Acadia Hearing Center is a state-licensed hearing aid dispensing business. We sell and service all kinds and types of hearing aids.
We are independent from any company-tying arrangements which limit our ability to sell the best hearing aid for your specific hearing problem at the lowest possible price.
On our website, we've tried to provide as much background information as you might want but we're always happy to discuss your particular concerns in as much detail as you'd like. Our patient population ranges from young children just beginning school and wondering why they're different from their classmates on through lobstermen, professional musicians, and company executives. We daily see a large number of folks who are experiencing more pronounced hearing loss in their retirement years. Regardless of your age or income, we will do our best to find you a hearing instrument that will enhance your hearing ability.
Our business philosophy is to offer the best hearing instruments at the lowest possible price. If we don't sell you the appropriate hearing instrument, we will both lose since it's likely you won't return when/if your hearing changes. Because of this, we stay abreast of product offerings from ALL hearing aid manufacturers and make our suggestions based on medical rather than financial reasons.

Some additional comments:
If a hearing aid dispenser advertises only one manufacturer's hearing aid, it's more than likely that they have some type of financial agreement with that firm. This arrangement prohibits them - either contractually or for their want of financial enurement - from considering other instruments. They are driven by THEIR business needs and not your hearing needs!
With Acadia Hearing Center, you can rest assured that we have NO such arrangements.
Another development in hearing aid sales are contractual arrangements with 'networks' which provide everything from billing services to website development to - yes, you guessed it - discounts on hearing aids to their clients! Once again, your hearing health may take a secondary place to the financial incentives offered through such networks. Just because someone offers a discount to THEIR network members doesn't mean that you, the patient, will benefit. In fact, all this may serve to do is increase the dispensing firm's profit margin while limiting your choice of hearing instrument.
Some companies and health plans have also established 'savings programs' PROVIDED you use THEiR chosen 'system'. While we'd all hope that their choices were made based on quality and not price, we believe that any 'captive system' is less than optimum for you, the patient.
We reiterate: Acadia Hearing Center is free of such involvements.
From time to time we use the services of a medical practice management consulting firm, they offer NO services beyond management advice and website creation. Beyond that, we have NO tying-arrangements with ANY entity and our recommendations are based on our experienced medical judgement coupled with an understanding of YOUR hearing needs.
Our entire focus is on YOUR hearing health - NOTHING LESS!
